Package Discounts, Purchase Discounts and Other Activities Promote Customers to Use 5G as Soon as Possible
Up to 9:30, October 9th, 5G subscribers of China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom have respectively reached 5.92 million, 2 million, and 2.08 million, and the total number of subscribers has exceeded 10 million. It is reported that the 5G package will be promoted this month.
China races ahead of West in pursuit of 5G
In order to attract users to participate in the subscribing activities, the three major operators offer a variety of preferential activities.
In terms of package discount, the event page of China Mobile shows that customers who purchase China Mobile's unified network package within three months from the date of receiving the 5G package discount offer can enjoy the package fee discount for the next 6 months. The longer the Internet age is, the more favorable the discount. For example, customers of 5-year net age or above enjoy a 30% discount, those have a net age within 5 yearsenjoy 20% discount .
China Unicom and China Telecom also launched similar package discounts, but the requirements for user's network age have been reduced to three years. On the reservation page, after the user makes an appointment, they will enjoy the 5G package discount for 6 consecutive months. Users who have a network age of 3 years and above enjoy a 30% discount, and a 20% discount is for users within three years of net age and new network users.
In terms of purchase discounts, China Telecom provided special offers of 150 yuan to 500 yuan for 5G mobile phones of Huawei, ZTE, vivo and Xiaomi. While China Unicom has prepared gifts such as earphones and smart speakers, or a purchase discount of up to 600 yuan for users. In preferential activities of China Mobile, buyers of Xiaomi 9Pro5G can have a 300 yuan discount, and buyers of China Mobile's Pioneer X1, Samsung Note10 + 5G version can gain a 500 yuan discount.

Earlier, a number of media reported that the minimum expenses for the 5G package of three major operators would be around 200 yuan each month, which is too expensive for many users. Now with the package discounts activities launched by the three companies, it only cost users 160 or 140 yuan each month in the six months after the commercial launch, and could save them hundreds of dollars in the purchase of 5G mobile phones. To a certain extent, these discounts activities can promote users to use 5G at an early date.
5G package will be released this month, the market expects landmark applications
The three major operators opened 5G package appointments at the end of September, sparking speculation that operators will put 5G into commercial operation in October.
Early on September 20, at the China Mobile 5G+ Innovation Cooperation Conference, Xu Ximing, deputy general manager of the marketing department of China Mobile, said that China Mobile is accelerating the pace of 5G commercialization. He added that 5G package will be officially released in October, including basic packages, CPE packages and upgrade plans for old users. Customers do not need to change the card, the number, and do not need to register to order 5G network service.
As the 5G network is progressing rapidly, formal commercial foundations is increasingly established. Recently, the official statistics of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economics and Information Technology show that the three major operators have completed buiding up more than 8,800 5G base stations in Beijing, covering areas such as Chang'an Avenue, the World Expo Parks, and CCTV Broadcasting Center. According to a message released by the Beijing Communications Administration, it is expected that by the end of 2019, Beijing will build more than 10,000 5G base stations.

Among the other three first-tier cities, Shanghai plans to build 10,000 5G base stations in 2019 and 20,000 5G base stations in 2020. Guangzhou decides to complete no less than 20,000 5G base stations in 2019, and by the end of 2021, the number will reach 65,000. Shenzhen is planning to build 15,000 5G base stations by the end of 2019.
With the spread of 5G networks, innovative applications in various 5G environments are emerging. On September 25, Daxing International Airport was officially opened. Eastern Airlines, together with Beijing Unicom and Huawei, took the lead in releasing the 5G-based smart travel integrated service system at Daxing International Airport. Under the system, users only need to do a face recognition, instead of presenting the ID card and the QR code, to complete the travel process such as ticket purchase, security check, and boarding.
How is the new Daxing airport using 5G to help passengers?
However, some insiders told that 5G networks have many mature applications in the fields of industrial Internet, but there is no landmark application that can greatly improve the experience of ordinary users. Now, the whole market is looking forward to the arrival of this kind of creative applications, but no one can say in what form they will come to our lives.
